Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has honored Mr. J. van Genderen from Renkum on January 25, 2019 as Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The decoration was granted by her to Mr. Van Genderen for his dedicated attention during many years as co-organizer of the annual Airborne Memorial Service at the CWGC Airborne Cemetery at Oosterbeek, commemorating the allied soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Arnhem/Market Garden September 1944
Mr. Van Genderen received the decoration at The Hague out of the hands of the British Ambassador in the Netherlands, his excellency Mr. Peter Wilson CMG.
Mr. Jaap van Genderen (31.03.1966) has been a volunteer for 26 years at the Airborene Forces Security Fund, the organization responsable for the annual commemorative service at the CWGC Airborne-Oosterbeek War Cemetery. The last 16 years he has been a modest co-organizer, without any pretension and unselfish commitment, organizing this memorail service, which is of great importance and value for many people, such as Arnhem Veterans and their next of kin, throughout the world.
In 2018 Mr. Van Genderen was awarded Knight in the Order of Oranje Nassau for his voluntary work at the Airborne Memorial Service, among other things.
